The Department of Creative Arts is honoured to launch a series of seminars titled “Imaging Design Artist Seminar Series I”.

Three image-based artists had been invited to deliver a seminar talk and share with us their artistic practices. This event is designed for both OUHK’s students as well as the public to attend with the hope of offering the community a better understanding of image-based and digital art practices in Hong Kong. To increase the accessibility of the event the sharing sections will be held via zoom and we would like to sincerely invite you to register and attend this seminar series.

The details of the event are as followed:

[Artist Seminar # 1]

Theme: A Look At Looking

Date: 23/4/2021 (Friday)

Time: 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Speaker: Mr. Eason Tsang Ka Wai (Artist)

About the Speaker: Eason Tsang Ka Wai graduated from the School of Creative Media of City University of Hong Kong in 2013 with a major in Photography. Tsang’s artistic practice has evolved from an exclusive focus on photography to experiments with other media and subjects, such as lightboxes, multimedia, and mixed-media installations, exploring the relation between 2-dimensional images and 3-dimensional spaces. His works foreground a distinct perception that subverts common perspectives on everyday existence in the city, as well as the individual’s powerlessness against the tremendous social mechanism at work.

[Artist Seminar # 2]

Theme: Seeing Our World Through The Methodology of Computer-Generated Imagery

Date: 30/4/2021(Friday)

Time: 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Speaker: Mr. Otto Li (Artist)

About the Speaker:

Otto Li's works focus on exploring the nexus between virtuality and reality owing to his years of experience as a concept artist in the CGI animation industry. By reconstructing images with collective data in the forms of sculpture, virtual modelling, digital drawings and interactive installation, he embraces the possibilities of interpreting and re-interpreting visual data and translation between various media, as well as of reflecting our relationship with the nature of space, time, media, technology and our senses.

[Artist Seminar #3)

Theme: Image and Relationality

Date: 7/5/2021 (Friday)

Time: 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Speaker: Mr. Andy Li San Kit (Artist)

About the Speaker:

Li San Kit, Andy was born in 1994, Hong Kong. From camera-based media, he develops his diverse forms of art practice. Photography, moving images and installations make up the interdisciplinary body of his work. Li’s works gaze at the essence of images critically. He contemplates the potential of images as an extension of interpersonal relationship. Often his works are being considered as emotionally direct and affective where his visual poetries often take forms through musings and subsequently, mumbles.
